How do you remove the headlight so that you can get the amber corner lense out to make it a clear corner lense? I took two bolts off of the top of the headlight but I can see a third one that I can't get to without removing the front bumper. Can anyone help?

I forget where I saw the diy, but I think you have to pull the bumper, pull the headlight, reach in through a small hole and pry/cut/remove the amber side piece through the small hole. Too much work for me

It's all good, I got a PM back with the instructions. I did it so now I have clear corner lenses. Phantom, once you get the hang of it, it really only takes about 15 minutes per light (including removing the tires). Now I just need to get the clear bulbs.
Hey man, post some pics. Did you bake them or did you do it through the turn signal? I am using Sylvania Longlife as my turn signals, they aren't white and have a hint of yellow, but the bulbs are clear and during the day with DRL's disabled it looks like
With them on. It's the best turn signal bulb I could find that was even close. If you want amber with a blue coating you can get Silverstar turn signals. APC makes some blue ones that glow super white as well. If you do find a clear bulb that glows white, let me know.
I'll for sure post some pics by tomorrow. I'm gonna go hunting for some bulbs in the morning and I'll see what I can come up with. I wanna say that Eurolite makes a clear bulb but I'm not sure if it glows white or not. As for the method, I just broke it into pieces and fed it out of the signal hole. With the time frame I had, it was the best option. It was getting ready to rain all over the place so I just snapped it out quick. Looks good though. Thanks for the help again!
Yeah, it just made it that much easiser to get to the screws so I could pull out the bumper to fit my hand down in to get out the last hidden bolt. I probably could have used a screwdriver attachment on my wrench and then eliminated the need to take off the tire but I did this on a whim at my friends house and he didn't have all the tools that I did.

Hmmmmm, now my "wheels are spinnin' "....I really like the look - if I could manage to switch cars for a day (wifey's corolla) and do it, she'd never notice. But I would
I'd say go for it. I'm about to head out the door to get clear bulbs for it now. The link I was given was for an 03 corolla (i think) so it was slightly different, so if you decide to do it I can take some quick photo directions on an 05 for you if that's what you needed.
They say they glow white, but from what I know about sylvania is that they have two models. One's that are amber colored and then cheaper ones that arent. I know GI Joes here sells them so I'm gonna run down there and check it out and then I'll be able to tell you whats up with them. If it works out, the ones that should glow white are only like 4 bucks so lets just hope.
HMMM... those Sylvania Silverstars look and seem like the same as the amber ones I've had. The description is the exact same as almost all Sylvania Silverstar bulbs (I sell them on ebay for half of retail), so I just think that it's just an advertising mistake. But if you do find them in white, let me know.
The 03 and 05 bolts and bumper all line up the same. There shouldn't be any differences in the directions.
Removing the tire gives you easier access to the bolts you need to remove. You can also get the clearance by just jacking your car up to get some more space but it may be a bitch to put the wheel well cover back on. The whole bumper doesn't have to come off, you just need to get enough clearance to get to the last bolt. How did you do yours adsaba1969?
PhantomS: After having my corners cleared, I can't stand to look at Corollas with the amber in them. Makes me want to punch right through the headlight and pull them out. Haha. I've removed plenty just for friends and stuff and everyone agrees. It looks much cleaner and evened out. Especially because it would be the only amber anywhere on my car.
Yeah so the sylvania silver stars definately don't come in white, has to be a labeling mistake. I did just go with the cheaper sylvania's anyways because I didn't wanna keep the amber bulbs in there. If I can manage to find some bulbs with perhaps a blue tint to them then I'll let you know. It's raining right now but hopefully it will stop soon and I can get some pics up.
I looked at it while I was doing it and figured I could probably do it without taking off the tire but like NRM said, it's easier access. It's all up to the person doing it if he or she wants to or not.
