[MOD] 1992 DX - turn signal

Is there a way to rewire the corner light beside the headlight so it will also flash when you use the turn signals?

I ask because I noticed drivers flanking you won't see that you're signalling unless they're way behind you to see your taillights. The front corners don't flash when signalling, wonder why Toyota designed them that way.

I've already searched, couldn't find exactly what I was looking for. Thanks for any input.

You would have to cut the wires and re-wire them into the turn signal ones to make them work, that's probably the easiest way, but then they won't be on all the time, they will only turn on when you put your turn signals on.

The corner lights have two slots for bulbs each, one is for the dim light and the other supposedly for a blinker. Do I just wire it directly to the blinker? In between the bulb holders of these two seem to be metal contacts of some sort (to link the two). Won't that short it?

If anybody has done this, please guide me. I'm not electrically-inclined. Thanks.

ive thought about doing this before.

the cutting and rewireing seems to be the best option, i wonder if perhaps putting a 2 element bulb in there would do anything?

i doubt it, i also would like to so the same to my rear side marker lights, though that seems easier

Wow, thanks. I've also been doing some searching myself:

www.danielsternlighting.com has a generic tutorial.

From Morris' link:

"Cut the ground wire for the parking light. [What end should I cut? On the ground part or near the bulb?] Tape off the end that goes to the car cos you won't be using it anymore.

Splice the ground wire from the parking light (the bulb socket) to the 12V+ wire of the blinker. You'll need a piece of wire and some crimps to do this. [Any particular gauge of wire you recommend?]

Parking lights off = parking light and blinker both blink at the same time

Parking lights on = parking light and blinker blink alternately.

Remember to cut the ground wire on the parking and only use the end that goes to the bulb socket of the parking light otherwise you'll end with blown fuses. Also verify the wires with a DMM before you cut and splice"
