05's can't put an intake on, the Drive By Wire system freaks out from the added airflow

What do you mean "freaks out" ?
I haven't had problems (i.e. CEL, stalling, surging, etc.)
Does it take a while for problems to appear then ?
I don't know why it would cause problems, the air flow meter should provide the data that the ECU uses to adjust stuff. I guess I'll see what happens...

Has anyone else that has tried a CAI on an 05 w/ DBW run into problems ?

yeah, the DBW will work against your added airflow to net you pretty much no gain at all (by readjustign the throttleplate position itself, regardless of what you tell it to do)

The best intakes IMO are made by AEM and as for headers... the best carb legal is the DC sport header which just came out. JP Performance also makes one that is a bit cheaper but not carb legal.
