'90 Corolla sedan middle brake light

Is it a common problem for the middle brake light for 88-92 Corolla to not work? My dad's has been out for a while. I tried changing the bulb, but it did nothing. There is no power to it with a multi-meter. I'm thinking maybe a bad ground? I can't see where the wires go into it from underneath...

The reason I ask whether or not it's common is because I've seen a few other Corollas around withe the same problem.

Fotunately, for purposes of this question, my rear dash (or shelf or whatever one calls it) in my 1990 is missing. The middle brake light wires go from the drivers side of the light across the rear dash in a recessed valley under the missing dash to the molding on the rear side of the drivers rear door. They go under this molding, the section on the bottom half of the door. I don't know what happens after that. The harness has several wires in it, I think 4 of them are for the speakers. There are 2 brake light wires. One is green, with pairs of red stripes (incomplete stripes, like someone put dashes on the wire with a Sharpie). The other one is white with pairs of stripes. (The white wire with single stripes and the red wire with single stripes goes to the passenger side speaker.)

The problem is inside the light. You'll see where there's a screws connecting the wire to the socket, Solder that. Bad ground. Same thing with the other brake lights not working.
