New 06 Corolla

Hello all. I just bought a new 06 Corolla, automatic and I thought I'd introduce myself here and ask a few questions. As I was perusing the owners manual, I noticed that you're supposed to periodically tighten the drive shaft bolt. I didn't notice a torque spec on this, and was wondering why it needs to be periodically tightened (I would have thought if it was prone to come loose, they would have put a lock washer or something on it), and what to torque it to? Also, since I'm planning on doing my own oil changes, I was curious as to how difficult it is to get to the oil filter? I'm hoping it's not hidden behind a bunch of other stuff that requires you to be double jointed before you can remove it. I also noticed that there was no interval specified for changing the timing belt. I'm not a mechanic, so I'm assuming that since it is a VVT engine, there is no timing belt....is this a good assumption?

So far (500 miles later), I'm pretty impressed with the little car. It gets significantly better milage than my pickup truck, which is the primary reason I got it. It's pretty peppy, though it's certainly not a sports car. Speaking of which, anyone know what the HP and torque specs are on it?

Thanks.

drive shaft bolt

I asked the same question about the drive shaft bolt. Nobody seems to bother checking it, or even no about the scheduled maintenance.. I have 35k on my 05 with no problems......
