wrong tranny fluid dipstick reading?

I checked my transmission fluid level in both hot and cold conditions. In both conditions the level of transmission fluid is in hot position of the dipstick. What might be the problem. Any suggestions?

For hot testing i followed the regular procedure..

run the engine for a while.. park the car.. remove the dipstick.. check the level.. i did this couple of times in all cases it showed in hot positition which is true..

But when i checked the level in cold postion after overnight stay it still showed in hot position.

whats the reason?

thanks..

Did you drive the car or just idle the engine? The transmission might get warmer if you drive around for a while.
