hi all, i have a 97 corolla CE and i've noticed that the stock sound system SUCKS! whenever i have the volume over a certain point the bass just sounds so bad i just turn it off. i know this is to expected of a stock sound system but i am wondering, would speakers solve this problem or would i need subs? i am reluctant to get subs because i am NOT looking for the kind of bass that shakes the ground whenever you turn it on. i really dont want the overpowering bass that subs give you. thanks for any input.

I threw a small 10" kicker sub in the back of mine to give it a little extra bump...but its not insane like having 2x12". I would say invest in a good set of speakers first off though, stock size in the front, then upgrade to 6x9's in the back. If thats not enough bass then move up to a sub.

x2 on getting a new set of front speakers. This is a must. I wouldn't worry about getting the rears though save your money and get an amp for the fronts or get a sub if it is not enough bass.
