Different spark plugs for '95 Prizm & '95 Corolla??????????????

OK, this one threw me for a loop.

Picked up some Denso Q16PR U-11 this morning for my prizm.

The ones I pulled out were K16R U-11 (???)

So I go onto Denso's website & look up for both cars.............

Sure enough..........Corolla gets the ones I pulled out & Prizm gets the "Q" series with the "P" in it.

What the heck is up with that??? (And, yes, they look different)

Notice how the core sits up higher on the K series than the Q....(on the Q you can hardly see any white at all) All in all I'd guess that the K's are maybe .050" to .100" taller end to end.

I don't know what the he// Toyota was doin' here. Obviously either spark plug will work, 'cuz the K's were obviously in this motor for a long time.

So why the he// would Toyota do this???

A 4A-FE is a 4A-FE, ain't it??
