I have an 03 Corolla Sport - with 62000 kms/extended warrenty to 96k/4 years.

Centre console developed a problem where one of the compartment panels kept popping open. I take it in to dealer, mention extended warranty - service guy says no prob.

...6 hours later I return to pick it up and not only did he not call in advance to tell me it wasn't done he said it wasn't under warranty. Just 2k over the original warranty too.

Want to know if anyone else having similar quality/fit problems with these North Americanized Corollas...

Yeah!! This has happened 3 times to us and the dealer has replaced it 2x while it was under warranty. It's still broken and I am not taking it to the stealership to get it fix. I was wondering if anyone has done any mods to replace this area in the center console of the '03.

Same here..I assume your talking about the top CD compartment under the climate controls its only held together by two little springs connected to some cheap plastic tabs..One of my tabs broke off and the left side of the compartment sprung out...The good news is its easy to take out and work on/look at and the bad news is if the little tab is broke on the panel like mine was you might have to buy the whole thing(probably $75) I tried super gluing another little tab on but it didn't work then I put a rubber band on it and connected it to the back stretching it tight, that was a few years ago and it works and looks fine(only you know its there)....When you take the whole panel off there's a screw hidden behind the middle knob that has to be taken off...good luck...Radd Guy
