Door Lock Disassembly

Have a 95 Corolla DX with power door locks.

My passenger rear door lock is stopped working. All the other doors work using the power locks.

When I try to push the stem down to manually lock the door, the stem doesn't budge. It's stuck in the up position. When I use power locks to lock all doors, the passenger rear door still stays in the unlocked position. It's frustrating.

I removed the door panel to check things out. I tug a little bit on the rod that attached to the stem to "effect" a locked position. The stem never goes down fully, only a hint. Anyhow, trying this, the door will lock and cannot be opened from the outside by pulling the door lever up.

When I use the power locks, I can hear the "solenoid" click in that door. It doesn't sound like it stopped working.

Anybody got any hints on how to proceed? I tried remove the whole lock mechanism (the door lock solenoid? block) but realized it was also attached to the outside door lever. I chickened out, stopped and put eveything back together again. Does anybody know how to remove that? Do I need to? It's so tight in there, it's hard to work on it without pulling the whole thing out.

Any helpful hints are appreciated.

Here's a bump for ya' 'cuz I'm feelin' your pain!!

A few years ago I had to replace one of those little yellow plastic elbow joints in my '98 Camry on the driver door. Then a year or so later on the passenger door......(grrrrrrr)

Now, with this '95 Prizm, I need to take the driver's door lock cylinder (i.e. just the "lock" itself) and swap it with the one on the passenger side. The driver's side will turn counter clockwise (to lock) but not counter clockwise (to unlock). But the passenger one works fine so I'm hopin' they can be easily swapped.

Easier said than done, right? LOL!!
