Clicking Noise

It doesn't bother me too much, but I realize my baby is sounding different now.

Got a 95 Corolla and the car was always silent in the park position with the motor running. But now I hear a clicking noise. Something is astray! The sound is a clicking noise that comes about every 1 second. Click ... Click ... Click ...

I know that seems a little vague, but anybody have any ideas what that is?

Thanks.

Ken

If this is thetypical car noise, if you idle the car, open the hood and listen for it, it will disappear. But in case it is the unusual kind that doesn't, where does it seem to come from? You can use a short section of pipe or wood as a stethoscope. Listen on various pats of the engine. Is the engine making the car vibrate more than in the past?

I use to own a 97 and the only times it made any strange sounds when I sat idling I knew I was a bit low on oil. Once I topped it back up it ran like a dream again. I hope this helps.

Could be the a/c compressor or tappeting from the lifters, the best way is to open the valve cover and to look for sludge or unusual wear and tear.
