Unhappy Tranny problems

I have a problem with the automatic transmission in our 92 Corolla. This started yesterday; when I started the car in the morning, I let it warm up for about a minute or so then drove off. I noticed it the car was not shifting. After a while, maybe 2 miles, it was shifting just fine. I tried flushing the tranny but no luck. Same thing this morning. Any ideas on what it could be.

Thanks

Double A.........beep, beep............MCO!!! (JUuuuuuuuuuuust kidding. Do NOT go to Aamco)

If you don't know of a good shop yourself, ask around your area and see if anybody's had their tranny worked on at a local shop. You'll know if they're good 'cuz you'll hear more than one person talk about 'em.

You could also check your local Pennysaver or Recycler or whatever, but no guarantees on those folks.

Since it's shifting funny, I honestly wouldn't know where to begin. If fluid didn't help, it's probalby more involved than most folks would want to get into..........imho!

Thanks for the replies. Might have to look for a good used tranny. I'm going to hit the salvage yards this weekend.

I once confused a super bad tranny for sparks and wires, in my old escort. If it's been a while through some new sparks and wires in too. Car wouldn't spool up, was really flat and then slam into gear, wasn't getting the right spark.

hey,,, what do u mean by car not shiftin? ...

i have some similar prob in my 93 automatic. When i try to put the grear in park i have to push the stick very hard from Neutral->park, but its smooth between Drive->neutral.

any ideas what causing this prob.. I'm worried of any tranny probs.

Crockdaddy is correct. Probably why he's called that...

I took the car in and found that it needed some new hoses. They were leaking and it shifts perfect now. Also found that the vibration that I had was because my front tire wasn't round. Drives like a champ now.

Could be the shift interlock, that is whats engaged when you press button to go from park to drive. Reason you don't get it from drive to neutral is you don't have to press button, ya just shift. That would be my guess? Pretty simple fix, shouldn't cost much.

I've seen that same problem from worn engine/tranny mounts, (binds up the shifter cable) might wanna check those mounts and see if they are sagging/torn/ripped.
