New intake system+check engine light=confused

So I put a short ram intake on my 05 S and I was driving arround when the engine light came on. I can't say I was surprised, I figured it would happen. I was wondering if anyone else has had this experience and how I can turn off the light. Or if the light came on for any specific reason that I should be worried about. Thanks for the help.

Naw dude, everything about the install was legit. I think I know the problem, and that's that the ECU is used to only detecting so much air. I just gotta get it to reset itself by unhooking the battery for a few seconds on the negative end and then it will force itself to rethink how much air its getting.

Yep, you have to reset the ECU by pulling the battery for 15-20 seconds.

BUT, remember the 05-06 Corollas use the drive-by-wire system, so the ECU decides how much air to add based on your driving, instead of just throttle position. Short rams and cold air intakes have been said to throw off the ECU, hence the reason that TRD has not released a TRD Cold Air Intake for the 05-06. It isn't supposed to work.

Did you know that before you bought the stuff? See this is what I don't like, the more advanve the car is, the less that you can tinker with it. I'm just wondering how those super modified imports doesn't have problems like this?
