240K and still kicking

I was on the highway last night and happened to look at my mileage and saw that I hit the 240,000 mile mark! I really love my car! 16 years old, 31 mpg, no leaks, orignal engine, orginal trans and a damn good looking car!! Just thought I would share my story.

Awesome!!!! Keep it up!!!! Shoot for nothing less than 500,000 miles!!!

I'm at 129,000 on my '95 and first goal in my sights is 200,000, then 300,000 etc.

The older smaller motors have such a small stroke & bore that there's no reason they shouldn't hit a half million miles!!!

With 140k on my '90 Ive changed the oil about 5 times in as many years.
Never changed a belt.
Never changed or cleaned the air filter.
Added coolant twice (because of the problem Ill mention below).
Never changed the tranny fluid.

I rebuilt the motor from the crank bearings out last year because I blew the HG, but we came to the conclusion that the previous owner (teenaged girl, 0% mechanically inclined) overheated and warped the head, because when we miced the head it came out wacky, so we had the head shaved (which actually probably gave me like .05 more CR )

Anywho while we were in there, not one part showed any signs of wear. 3/4 crank bearings looked literally brand new. One had a bit of scoring that was undetectable by touch, which is pretty good for a 140k mile original part (we replaced them anyway since we had new ones and they are considered "wear parts" to be replaced when rebuilding, like gaskets).

But like I said, 140k mile all original bits and the engine was in pristine shape (aside, of cousre, from the damage that was done when I blew the HG).
And I drive my car HARD.
I especially drove it hard when I first got it. Burnouts, neutral drops, I did everything that I know better about now that Im not such a n00b.

Well.....you **DO** know, don't you.....that you're gonna have to hit 300,000 before you put her down, right??

I mean, even if you have to push her that last 1,000 miles......you just GOTTA do it!!!

Also.........loved Speedtrix's comments about neutral drops, etc. Poor little corolla motor/trans being subjected to things like neutral drops.........LOL!!!

I got a 1999 Corolla VE and I bought it about a week ago from a in home dealer for $4350 which I think is a great deal. It has only 89000 miles on it. My wife took it to the oil change and transmission oil/differential changed last Saturday and the mechanic said he thought it was a 2003 model. I have minor scratches and dents but the engine is in perfect shape as new.
I need new head lights since they both loose. Any one knows where I can find some cheap?

Thanks.
