Alignment Question

Since the day after I drove off the lot with my new '06 Corolla S, I've parked far away from all my co-workers so they couldn't ding my doors like they to my last car when I parked next to those clowns LOL. Well, I noticed that as I look at the car from afar, the rear tires are pigeon-toed, they pointed inward. I thought that was odd, since I will likely get piss-poor tread wear.

So I brought it in to the dealer, and lo and behold, that is the way they are designed...they are supposed to be that way, with a huge amount of tolerance of course. I was thinking of getting a lifetime alignment from Firestone and I assume they'll just make them all straight, not pigeon-toed (unless they have the OEM specs)...which I wonder if that will screw up my ride then. Anyone else experience this, or have any thoughts on this?

Kind of reminds me of my '96 Explorer that said to have 28 psi in the front tires and 26 psi in the rear tires, just so the ride feels nicer, but it really screws the tires up (which Ford doesn't care about)...wonder if Toyota is the same way about the way they designed the alignment to be. ????

Toe-in stabilizes a car at high speed, and fwd cars are typically very finnicky in the rear so the extra toe-in helps with people who aren't familiar with controlling a fishtailing car ie: fwd car owners. Adjusting the rear suspension geometry has a much greater effect on how a car handles than adjusting the front.
