Air/Fuel ratio guage?

I have the Carb 4A-F with a single wire O2 sensor. I was wondering if there is a A/F ratio guage that is compatible with this setup? I really want to install one because I plan pulling the stock jets out of the carb a replace them with something a little more aggresive and I just want to keep an eye on things!!

Almost all of them work on the single wire O2 sensor. but if I was you I'd take an EGT meter instead to show the mixture condition.

Narrow band A/F gauges are worthless. Wideband is the only way to go when you're trying to make power.

As far the the EGT gauge, there are so many factors that will affect the readout, but no matter what it is, you should stop when it gets too high. I would get an EGT gauge or a Wideband o2 sensor.

Well, the EGT tells you lot better when you're running lean and when you risk head damage.

Well since I plan on adding more fuel I think my biggest problem would be running to rich so, does the EGT give good readings the rich side of things?

If I run a wideband O2 sensor I am sure that would require wiring it in the the cars Ecu somehow so the computer still gets its info to run correctly. Right? Can a narrow band be effective at all if I don't plan on doing anything extreme just slight changes? Can either of you (or anyone else) recommend guages that are known to give accurate readings?

Your car would put a CEL (maybe) if you put in a wideband o2 sensor.

Didn't you just say you're running carbs? I'm not sure you even have an ECU.....

Well a basic multimeter would be probably the most accurate measuring device to read the O2 sensor output signal, as it gives out a volt reading.

There is an ECU it does not play as big a role as it would on a Fuel injected car, but it does pick up a signals and sends them to the carb. It was made in the period of time when Toyota was still playing with carbs, but they wanted the effectiviness of fuel injection thats why they finally switch to fuel injection the next model year.

Yes I did, and I said its the most accurate way to read the signal from an O2 sensor. ECU reads the voltage. Those blinking O2 gauges are just a big hassle and it wont tell you what the lambda is reading from the exhaust pipe. put a multimeter in there and you know 100% what the lambda is reading.

AE92 re:

hey guys i did the same setup in my car. using the autometer A/F gauge and a single wire O2 sensor and they work just fine. well my car didn't come with a O2 sensor so i got one for a AE100 corolla and a C.V joint nut and weld it in my exhaust down pipe.

Cool! So which autometer A/F guage did you get and where did you mount it? I was looking at the Sport-Comp series. I found one at Summit Racing for about $52.
