Urgent question about AE92!!!

There is a loud clunking noise just as you get on the throttle in 1st gear especially and it can be heard when cornering as well. I jacked up the car and the driveshaft does have a little give, it wiggles a little if I yank on it. It feels like it is not the side closest to the wheel but rather near the tranny. This isn't normal is it? is this the problem? If it is , do I need a whole new shaft or just a new pin in the CV joint or something? Could it be transmission related? Any info would be great, thanks a lot!

Check the engine mounts. I never noticed any clunking. Did you check the engine mounts there should be a receipt in the visor as I replaced the one front mount as it was starting to go. I replaced it but never heard any clunking after that.

NO, I don't think that's it otherwise the clunking would just happen at certain rpms. The engine seems to be mounted solidly.

OK, I'm quite sure it is the joint close to the tranny. So I am going to try and source a driveshaft from the wreckers somewhere. Anyone else have any other ideas?
