well if it dos "trick your car into thinking its taking in cold air its prob going 2 fuck it up and 2nd how the hell do u trick it to think its cold air if the engine is hot i would think the comp thinks its hot its its cold i would hope it thinks its cold but if you dont have a cold intake arnt you supposed 2 let it sit and warm up the engine anyways? :| but why would the comp give 2 shits if its cold or not?
Whole thing works sort of like this:
It tricks the ECU thinking the engine is colder, thus the ECU will increase fuel injection, to compensate (sort of like the choke), now they're claiming more fuel = more power. Which is false, it would basically FEEL like you have more power, because your car would run overly rich and underpowered in pretty much anything else than WOT. When at wot, you increase airflow, which sort of equilizes the condition, giving you an powerboost.
One thing to consider, you cant gain power by just adding fuel, you need to add air. Whilst some would say, get a CAI that would increase air intake. WRONG again, the engine sucks a certain amount each time the cylinder goes down, the stock intake isnt the bottleneck...
An added tip to 4A-F'rs. Few bottlenecks of the 4A-F are a)The intakevalves, b)The size of the intake port, not the filter.
