The avic z2 has 30g of space, 10g of which is devoted to all your media (i.e. music, pics, yadda yadda). So, in essence, what you have is 10g's of space to store all the music you want. You are right about both applications will be spinning either HD or DVD. But think about it, DVD is your removeable disk and HD is your permanent disk. That is why over use of time your HD will be out of alignment. This is why we rarely got problems with DVD drive in our pc but more problems with HD.
I agreed with you on the convenient of having the HD. I just hope that they use a newer technology with the HD that will make it last longer.
