Canada hesitation problem

first time posting here - tried a couple other sites, not very helpful.
Have a 90 Celica 2.2L - very recently, my car has started to hesitate during acceleration. At first, it was very slight, thought I was imagining it, but has gotten progressively worse over last 2 weeks. I added gas treatment and injector cleaner, no help. brother had a quick look- tried gas line antifreeze if any water, check plugs, distributor, TP sensor - running worse than ever. Any suggestions, before I spend lots of $?

same here, i have a start up hesistation problem.. the engine hesistate for a few seconds before it runs properly, and if i dont step on the gas peddle a few times, the start up will eventually die. anyone knows what can be the cause of this?

does it sound like shit? because mines used to do that and it sounded almost like a muscle car lol.. but it would really lag on acceleration.. so i took it to my dads friend and he said it was my distributor cap and sure enough after i replaced it it went back to normal

problem solved

Thanks to anyone who responded to my question. A couple of you had a similar problem. My problem turned out to be a simple fix - needed new cap, rotor, wire and plugs, althought the dealership told me you shouldn't use aftermarkets - you'll end up with the same problem. Cost, about $290 (170parts, 120labour) + taxes. Drives like a dream! Good luck!

I have the same thing I think as well..
Odd but in any gear above 1st at about 2800 rpm - 3000rpm there is hesitation - noticible.. and above 3100 - pulls strong after that..

Any ideas? (I did buy the dist cap and rotor and plugs - have not installed yet..)

Another possibility maybe that you need a fuel injector flush and air filter change - changing the rotor/distrib/etc on my completely stopped the hesitation, but I still have a problem with mileage, so the flush will be my next step. Good luck!
