Question More power for my Celica GT?

I was wondering how might I be able to get more power out of my Celica GT?
I'm open to suggestions.
With out doing any major modifications. I can't really afford that right now.

good luck...... anything that adds power costs $$.... and toyota stuff is not cheap!! maybe have some one do a custom exhaust.... intakes are half decently priced now a days!! As for ignition... I would personaly go with Nology.. I have nology ignition on my car and they are worth the $$...... I would say upgrade your clutch and flywheel also!! F1 racing stage 2 clutch is good up to 280 HP and 280 Tq, and is somewhat cheap.... Fidanza flywheel on the other hand are not, but they are worth there money also!!

Currently I have the following..
1. Nology igntion
2. 2.5 inch, custom exhaust front to back, with APC muffler...
3. Cosmo racing JDM fuel pressure regulator
4. TRD positive charging system (voltage regulator) and ground wire kit.
5. F1 racing stage 2 clutch kit.
6. fidanza light-weight flywheel (10lbs)

future mods almost ready to be put on.....

CT-26 MR2 turbo.... might even do the 3sgte head swap, if I can find more info on it!! I have a 3sgte, but no harness or sensors and ect!!

Intake and exhaust are just about the cheapest and most cost effective mod.

How much hp gain can you realize from intake/exhaust? 10-15? More? Do you recommend any intake over another for Celicas?

the best intakes are from k and n. just buy a cheapo cold air intake from ebay and put a k and n filter on it. i think tpr makes a full exaust system. or get a custom maybe 2.25 inch exaust with a non-fartcan muffler. and a header will give more power but not too much since the 7th gen headers are already pretty efficient. a header on my 5th gen will give me prob. 12hp while on a 7th gen u might get only a couple hp. after that you might upgrade the fuel system like injectors, pump, fuel rail, and some ecu mod that will give you more fuel. also you could look into camshafts if they have them. besides all that you could also geta turbo kit.

4th Generation

Thankyou. I'll try that when I get payed in a week. Mines a generation 4. I've increased the sparkplugs and spark wires from stock to thicker high performance stuff and a hotter plug. I'm also going to replace my tranny fluid later to night because i have no clue when it was last changed. Also I'm going to get a new style air filter for it. I don't like the look of the stock ones. Also if possible I'm going to replace the motor in the future from the stock 2.0 to something else. Any Suggestions?

Dangerous,

Let us know if you can feel any difference after doing the air intake. I have an 87 GT as well and I'm curious to find out if it makes a "noticable" difference or just a recordable difference.

Thanks

I will. I'm looking on ebay right now. I've seen one of the K&Ns but I don't have the 50 for it. So I'm going to go with a little bit cheaper one and see where that gets me. I'm not out to race but to inprove performance. I have a yugo/honda for racing so.

My Yugo is a GVS that I manupulated a older Honda CRX motor and front end into it. It was a long project almost 3 yrs to do.

I am not interested in racing my GT either. My daughter will be taking it soon. I am more interested in added performance as well. I know on some vehicles these bolt ons make more of a difference than with others.

dont cheap out and get a cheap filter. you will not be happy. spring the extra $ for a k and n. they are way better than those cheapo filters. and as far as an intake making a noticable diffrence, its all a matter of perspective. it wont give more than 5hp and the feelable diffrence will be small, but is is there, keep in mind that sometimes the car can seem faster just cause u want it to be or think it will be,(placebo effect). you will also get better gas mileage and its just plain better for your engine.
