1990 GT anti-theft question

Hey gang, I just got my new project car. After several great experiences with Toyotas in theform of my corolla and our Sienna, I picked up a 1990 convertible GT that has had some electical problems, spedfically, the the battery seems to drain itself down everytime it rains. Sounds like a short somewhere, but before I can work on that, I have another question: whenever I try to jump the thing from my other car, the horn starts blasting on it and it won't turn over. It may be two unrelated problems, but how do I keep the horn from going off during a jump? Thanks for any help!
