What's best to Slain a V8?

Hi I'm new on the forum and new at all with Toyota(always had Honda and BMW) I just moved from Germany to The States and I have this neighbor that have a Camaro (don't know wich type or year don't care neither) I always had Honda and they are different from Toyota, I don't even know the engines or the parts or nothing BMW's always kicked the behind of the American Muscle cars in Germany but with this Celica I just don't have a clue on what to do so I can make this guy stop calling my Celica "Rice Burner". Like I said I haven't done anything to it yet(tomorrow I'll change the Head gasket and timing belt kits with waterpump and everything else required to give a whole tune up after 150,000 miles) OK this is a 1991 Celica GT the engine begin with 5 something and it is a 2.2. L is not an all whell drive

well the two best ways to go about this in my opinion is either to do a 3sgte swap which is a 2.0l turbocharged engine, or you can make your 5sfe engine into a high compressoin 5sge, which is what i would recomend. Do searches on 5sge hybrid, and you will get lots of results. Also another option is a 5sgte which is the engine you have now with built internals, new cams, and a turbo which will have the most potential out of all the motors, but it will also be the most expensive to get it running high psi. A highly built 5sge and a 3sgte will both put out around 200 horse. do some searches, and always remember that you should not count on info unless it is from someone who has had first hand experience. well thats my advice good luck.

instead of spending thousands of dollars on your celica, you could buy a foxbody mustang and mod the hell out of it for $5000.

My friend has a foxbody mustang and it runs 12s, he has 5000 into it

The easiest way to beat it is invite him to a road race event. The celica should dominate the camaro in that if you can drive.

I agree with wheelgunner. My baddy had a Mustang. You can buy all kinds of stuff for them and make them scream! His had a run in with an oak tree so it's gone now.

Thanks for the feed back

Guys thanks for all the opinions and all are good but for now I'm sorry I don't like American cars at all, I'll stay with my Honda and my Toyota. So far I'm going to see if I can get the high compression mod and I'll make it happen. I had a honda CRX running 14 secs in the quarter of mile just with N/A tune. so again thanks

You better care what year and what type it is. That can make a huge difference. If it is an 70's POS with a 305 V8, you could probably walk him today. I had a 2002 SS that ran high 12's in quarter. It depends a lot on what model and year it is.

5S-FE or 5S-GE NA will give you around 200HP, 240HP MAX with heavy mods.
3S-GTE swap give you 200HP stock, with mods you can get to 400HP+.
I'll go 3S-GTE if all you want is to beat the V8.

I know some of those Fox bodies are running mid to high 11's.

I agree that Toyotas and Hondas make very dependable vehicles but so do the Americans. It is like anything else, every manufacturer has there good and bad vehicles. The point is it will be difficult at best for you to walk away from the Mustang without spending some serious cash, unless his is a beat up POS. Or if you challenge him to a road race instead of a drag race as previously mentioned.

By the way, in my opinioin, the Mustang is the only good car Ford makes. They do have good trucks though.

Good luck.

the camaro will walk all over your celica. if it is a ss or z28 you can do a 3sgte swap and still get smoked. if it is a v6 camaro you will beat him with some mods. an ss will also smoke the bmw. dont underestamate the camaro, they are fast as hell. and i have heard that they hanldle pretty good for a 3400lb. car.

the foxbody stang is the best hp per dollar of any car you can buy, idk why but theese things will fly for only a little money. yhe looks are kinda.... uhhg.... though.

Do not Under estimate the Bimmer

I'm sorry but I totally disagree with you on the BMW part. I had a 325i that was smoking the crap out of Porche's and Alfa Romeos and even Audi A6's, so don't think that piece of crap would beat me sorry. I was stationed for 3 years in Germany and my best friend owns a Tuner shop just for BMW so when you get in the Autobahn(where is no speed limit) and you smoke the crap out of all this cars definetly no camara no matter how big his engine is was going to beat me. By the way had to get rid of the car because it was European Specs and had to change a lot of stuff to bring it back with me

I think your wrong 90 celica gts. I don't know about a z28 walking all over a 3sgte celica. I have the swap on a 90 celica st and smoked my friends 69 stingray with stock engine just with puck clutch and full 3 inch exhaust. and z28's get scared once they here a blow off valve. They might be fast but they won't walk all over the 3sgte celica. Most of the time, it all depends on the driver and how much he knows his car.

are you on crack? what kind of porsches are you beating with a 325I? 924s?

the last time i checked the best any Stock 325is could do euro or American is mid 15s at best and top out in the 140mph range.

Stock SS camaros hit mid 13's some times low 13s and the Z28s are in the high 13s and are both good for 160mph. the Mustangs aernt far behind them either

a celica with the 3sgte should have no problem smoking a V6 fbody.

as far as the Mustang being the best car that ford made meh... only in the U.S. because the Ford Sierra,Saphire,Escort Cosworth's were far better cars overall.

its a shame Ford doesnt import the Falcons to the States.

well lets look at the stats if you have a 3sgte in an st you have 200hp and 2600lbs while the z28 has 320hp and 3400lbs. the celi will be fast but the z28 is still considerably faster.
