i got a 3sgte motor in my 1990 toyota celica gt, but there is no turbo... i bought the car used and i found out that that was not the original motor then i did some research and found out that this motor that i have came in the gt 4. Can i put a turbo on this engine since its the gt4 engine?
well. the block can say wat ever it wants to say..well iam takeing that the turbos and nons have the same block , and just different pistions for compression.....it could be a 3sge.....
just say it it was the 3sgte with out the turbo it would have to run like shit
but the 3sgte turbo set up if you want to call it that can be bolted directly onto a 5sfe as well so that really doesn't mean anything. An other easy way to check is to look at your MAP sensor. Is it green or blue? the 3sgte is green (someone correct me if Im wrong) Also does your car have an AFM or AIT. AFM is a unit that goes before your filter. can't think to describe it well right now but its got a 3" in and usually a plate attaching it to your filter chamber.
How is your alternator held on? Does it have a tensioner wheel? or a bracket?
It just seems odd that if your motor was a 3sgte the previous owner didn't tell you. Unless he unbolted the Turbo and sold it before selling the car. You could also pull out a fuel injector and take a look at it. the 3sgte's are much more agressive than the other s series engines
