1983 Celica GT coupe
5 speed
22R-E
130,000 on the clock
Gutted interior (nothing but driver's seat and dash, no heater controls or carpet or anything)
Power steering removed (pump and resevoir)
14" steelies
Trunk hinges and lock mechanism removed, trunk welded shut
Anything else I can remove as well.
What might I run in the 1/4 mile?
BTW, I'm doing this for fun, and the car is horribly rotted out. Quarters, rockers, wheel wells, etc are all wasted, so I'm not ruining a nice car lol
lightweight your car by accelerating the rust processus and drive naked. lol
run on 1/4 tanks, take the metal out of your bumpers. leave only the plastic cover. get rid of the hood, do something so the air filter is directly exposed to the free air. Cut your springs in the front to get the nose down.
1/4 tank, can do. Take the metal out of the bumpers, can do. No hood... not sure if that's track legal?? I'll cut a big hole in it for my air intake though!
Now cutting the springs sounds like a good idea... but is it really that easy? I won't mess anything up?
All the metal under the hood? Good idea! I'll do that too. The only rules here are: I have to be able to drive it 45 min to the drag strip. It will be warm, so I don't need heat or anything. But I will need one mirror, lights, etc. It doesn't have to be inspectable though, as I'll just toss my plates on it.
That reminds me... where is the heater core? That's probably a good 4 pounds or so.
Take out your spare tire..... remove antenna. Drill holes everywhere like swiss cheese. break the windows. glass is heavy. Shrink wrap works well for windows. (Clear). Under the car there are heat shields that are sheet metal. take them off except for the one by the fuel tank.. you are going to wanna have that. Good luck.
plywood can replace metal. Remember that!
