Question '91 GT Exhuast Leaking?

My brother has a '91 Celica Gt 5-speed with over 100k on it. Recently he has heard the exhuast geting louder. Is the flex pipe a common place for the exhuast on this year Celica to fail. Or should he look some where else?

My brothers had his '91 Celica GT loud exhuast leak checked and it is at the middle flange in the stock exhuast. The rest of the stock exhuast is in good condition but one bolt at this flange is missing and the flange is damaged? Is there a slip over flange he can get to fit the flange leak ON the car?

I don’t know of any slip over exhaust flange. Years ago there was muffler tape that supposedly could fix leaking exhaust system. A middle pipe should not be that expensive if it does not include the catalytic converter. I purchased one years ago for another car mail order. Have you tried a muffler shop? The might even be able to straighten the flange, replace the missing bolt and put in a new gasket.
