Lightbulb 2.2 swap

i want to swap my 1.8 for a 2.2 gt motor. all i need to know is: will i need to replace the transmition or can i keep the one i have now, is this swap even possible, and has anyone ever done it?? i need as much feedback as posible

can be done, but you will need at MINIMUM a ecu, wiring harness, engine, transmission, engine crossmemeber, probably driveshafts, you will have to cut out one of your engine mounts and weld a different one on.

Doesn't worth it. The 2.2L is 130HP and 140ftlb. Try a 4A-GZE or 3S-GTE.

yeah, your better off putting a 3SGTE. Can't really do much w/ a 5sfe, unless you do the 5SFTE set up. But thats just more $$ that could be spent on buying a 3SGTE.

Yeah, either a 4a-gze or a 3s-gte, Its a little more expensive with those two but you will not regret it, especially the 3s-gte. It's got some awesome aftermarket and the power is a really nice upgrade

You can get a 3SGTE out of a MR2 Turbo, or better yet a All TRac celica.

yes you would need to use a tranny from a celica(s53 or s54), camry or mr2(e153), take your pick each have a price range, each are special in there own way.
