Swappin an engine into a Celica...

yeah, I'm gettin a 2001 Celica soon and I was wonderin what engine you guys think would be better suited to this kinda car. I'm talkin about across the board, all kinds of engines. I know a few like the rb26 and the 2jz won't fit unless you get a magician...

Just keep the motor you have, and then turbo it... I'm not even sure if there is much swap options for the 7th gens. But I know that there was a 3SGTE done... which costed like $10k. If you have an extra $10,000 laying around after you buy your celica... well you can always do the 3sgte. Any Swap is possible.. just how much $$ and time your willing to spend on it. There is a MR-S that has a K20A swap.

if your gonna pay fro a swap just buy a faster car...If your getting a GT, I suggest just turboing it...if getting a GTs, SC is a better option becuase stock pressure is high

You can fit anything with enough money. A 2JZ will go in with RWD conversion. In fact you can even throw in a LS1.
Swaping anything beside the ZZ series will require tranny and fab engine mounts. 3SGTE woult be nice, I think you can keep FWD with Camry V6.

point is piney that its not worth 20K+ (10 for engine swap and so much more for the RWD and or AWD wheel drive stuff) just to add like 20-40 hp and 70 lb (assuming 3sgte swap), then after than begining to mod your new engine, when all is said and done a 3sgte AWD or RWD( i know there is no RWD 3sgte, im speculating based on his goals) is to potential youll be 30 Gs extra in da whole and kicking yourself cuz supras will still smack you. If your gonna go ALL out, buy a better car cuz once u swap you cant stop. If your thinking of dropping a supra engine and, why not sell the celica and get a supra rather than pay more to drop it all in the celica.

just sell your celica and buy an alltrac... you get a celica with an already fast motor. and saves you the time from swapping.

I dont think manu people are willing to sell a seventh gen to buy a 15 year old car in general unless its a beast. If I still had my seventh gen, I would never have sold it to buy a an older car if I could afford to keep it. Sure the other car is somewhat faster, but its mad old. At least in the supra the car still looks good and would be newer. My 2 cents

I sold my 1991 Celica to get money for my 1975 celica... but thats just me. Besides I guess considering I have a 2001 Silverado I don't really care what waste my money on now... But I still love my celica... TO THE MAX.

Just turbo it and you should be happy with what you come out with. Go to NewCelica.org they have majority of 7th gen celicas that have some threads about whatever you want to know for specifically the 7th gen celica. And I think MRS but I'm never on there.. SO I'm not to sure about the MRS..

The 7th gen is not an easy car to swap . The best scenario would be a 3sgte with a Camry V6 fwd5 spd"rare" tranny that I saw in a magazine once. They had to build a custom intake manifold and engine mounts. I think it all depends on what you want! That guy is right once you swap you cant stop. It can be a real pain in the ass. You might end up with something original though.

My advice pick something else for the money that comes factory fast and then spend your money on it. Most factory turbo set ups are on avg at least a second faster in the q/t over the N/A brother. So start there and then build your monster

This from a guy who did the swap and a drivetrain conversionon a 5th gen in my defense I had owned the car for 7 yrs before I swapped.
On My second go round with a MKIII supra I put an intake blow off and 3" exhaust and had stock boost and ran a 14.3 @ 95 mph. Because I was still making the Alltrac I dont have a time but I assume a low 14 as well until I ditch the CT26. My celica cost me alot more.
If i have to ever replace a car these will be my choices. Its all about how much dough you got! MkIII or MKIV Supra maybe an Alltrac or MR2

what about swapping in the 1ZZ? I've heard some people say that it's a better engine over the 2ZZ(being called "peaky" and such). I was just curious because I love the lines of the celica but I'd like to get the most torque and whp out of it as possible. I realize you guys don't have much respect for guys like me, but I don't have too much in the way of knowledge about certain car stuff, any help is appreciated.

We still have respect for newbs, don't even say we don't. I think you should just get a Turbo Kit above all swaps. If you get a turbo kit, you will have more HP and Torque than a 1zz and a 2zz. And since you say you don't have too much car knoledge, your better off just getting an intake and headers and leaving it at that. But if your serious about major power for a 7th gen... go turbo, I havent seen any 7th gens with any problems w/ turbos yet.

I got a 3sgte in my curren, which is basically a celica, with different lights and a different trunk. Although in NZ parts are cheaper and they dont come stock with a 3sgte...

but this is a 7th gen, not a 5th or 6th gen car. 5sfe and 3sgte are iterchangeable as transmissions fit and alot fo other things will work out. With a 7th gen your a playing a whole different game.
