Yes, you will need the ecu and harness.
C.tech is a great place to do the research on 3sgte swap.

You say you got a 1.6L GT. You sure? Is it an import? I ask because GT in US and Canada got 2.2L 5S-FE. The 1.6L is 4A-FE. It does affect swap due to different engine mount and tranny.

Its a DOHC. Do you see 2200, 2000 or 1600 on valve cover or intake manifold?

Engine with a single timing belt pulley doesn't mean its a SOHC.
92 Celica got a handful of engines: US 1.6L 4A-FE, 2.2L 5S-FE, 2.0L 3S-GTE Japan/Europe 2.0L 3S-GE. They all DOHC, 4A-FE and 5S-FE and slaved DOHC with one timing belt pulley driving both intake and exhaust cams.
BTW all the above engines are 16V.
Unless someone swapped an old SOHC 4A into your car which should be a Carb engine.

yea the other cam gear is an internal subgear so the intake cam, which does have a pully, can rotate the exhaust cam in the opposite direction. and to boost a 2.2 it takes about 8 hours if you have all the right parts. i did it in a few days though because i didnt work on it consistantly.

what kind of engine management you considering?
