89 Celica slow idle, noise in right front when going over

Hello

I have a 89 Celica ST (I believe 2.0 SOHC). 161,000 miles. These cars don't die! When I got the car it had a slow idle when warm. Anyone out there know what controls the idle on these? Is this a regular problem on these cars? Is there something that gets carboned up that slows the idle? The previous owner (my brother) had a problem with the car dying. The shop turned up the idle instead of finding the problem. Any input is welcome.

Another item. I've checked all of the joints on the right front wheel which are tight. When I go over bumps with the right front wheel there is a loud clunck. Anyone out there with experience with this? On my Taurus it was my anti-sway link. I'm thinking that this is the problem on the Toy too.

Thanks for getting back to me.

Regards

Dan

Not sure about the idle but the clunk is likely a broken sway bar link as you said.

Thanks Deep for your reply! More

Deep or anyone else.

Do you know of any place on the internet that I can get a sway bar link for my celica? The dealer wants around 55.00 for it. Right now money is a little tight. I really dislike the cluck. It really makes the car sound cheep.

Go to any parts place, theres no need to drop that much coin for a few bushings and a bolt.

Found the cluncking problem!!

I found the clunckinig problem! The nut that holds the strut cartridge in the tube was loose and finnally came off. I was driving without any strut on the passenger side! I was getting a lot of wheel hop and it was really noisy. It will be nice to drive without the cluncking. I didn't have to buy parts.
