Gen5 '90 celica cold air intake Q.

The intake hose on the 1990 celica i just bought is ripped and I'm trying to decide whether or not I should buy a performance intake instead of just replacing it with a stock hose. I was wondering if that would throw off the rest of my car, like overwork the exhaust or something (still don't know much about cars sorry lol). I heard that if you change one thing on a car to performance you pretty much have to change everything else a level up just to even it all out or else the one performance part will damage the stock parts, is that true? Any help or info would be great..plus, does anybody know where i could get a performance one for a 1.6..all of them seem to be for 2.0 and up...and are universal ones any good? thanks!

its nto actually cold air intake...its a short ram you are seeing and to be honest it makes very little hp difference, its just gives u a nice throaty sound. You can drop the performance intake in no problem and you wont have issues related to it in your engine. However, adding exhasut and headers will increase the gain u get due to the short ram intake.

I made myself a true CAI for my 5SFE. I used 2" and 3" PVC... You could probably do the same with your 1.6 ltr

Email me at all_wolf@hotmail.com and I'll email you pics and basic directions...basic tool and measuring knowlege required.

If you can see the filter when you open the hood, its not cold air.
Its everything but cold air under the hood.

If you have an Autozone near you they sell universal intake tubing that you can piece together. They even make a section that has the MAF sensor slot that you can match up. Most pieces are like 9.00 bucks.
