Trying to find some information on either removing/replacing and/or toubleshooting a Power Sunroof Motor on a friend's '90 Celica ST. I've "Googled" and checked a Haynes manual, but coming up empty. Does anyone know of a website with any information on the Celica's power sunroof motor?

Right now, it tilts a "bit" but does not slide back. There's some "ticking" going on, but not sure if it's a relay or possible a gear slipping?

Any diagrams of where and how it's mounted would be GREATLY appreciated.

Remove the headliner and you'll see the whole thing. Sunroof in Corolla and Camry are the same. So you can go to junkyard and get the parts.

Thanks for the info (I was informed that it was probably in the trunk, but it SURE sounded like it was under the headliner!) Also good to know that Camry and Corolla share some parts with this Celica.

Yea I took a few stuff from camry's 3S-FE. The whole sunroof is the same in Corolla GTS. Even the switch.

Thanks SO much "Pineapple" and "ST185" - went to a local junkyard and got everything (including the sunroof assembly) for just under $50! BTW, great instructions from that link, ST185.

Now I wasn't sure to start a new thread or continue here, but the sunroof only slides all the forward or all the way back if the following 3 steps are applied:

From a completely closed position, to slide it back (open) you must:
1) Press and hold "Slide back" (this will bring it to approximately the halfway point)
2) Press and hold "Tilt up" (this will bring it to approximately 75% open)
3) Press and hold "slide back" again to bring it all the way back.

To close, the opposite buttons would be pressed.

Is this correct...should there be 3 steps to opening or closing the sunroof?

The owner said she remembers pressing the "slick back", which would bring it about halfway (as it does now), but then she would press "slide back" again to completely open - didn't remember having to press the "tilt" buttons, but is VERY pleased it's working again!

Any ideas about this?
