For US models, RA64 was solid axle and RA65 (incuding GT-S) was IRS.
They are interchangeable (and also with the 81-85 Supra and possibly the 83-85 Cressida and 85-87 Cressida)

LSD was optional on them but relatively rare.
The Celica typically had a T series diff and the Supra had a stronger F series diff.
T series LSDs are hard to find.
F series LSDs can be found in the front diff of a the Hilux (aka Pickup).
If the 85-87 Cressida axle fits, then it uses an F series diff.
If the 88-91 Cressida axle fits, then it uses a very strong G series diff.
G series LSDs can be found in the rear diff on a Hilux and in some Cressidas.
LSD and non LSD diffs from the same series share the same crown and pinion wheels and many small bits.
TRD made LSDs but they stopped making the T series.
Springs are still made by Whiteline (see Josh at
www.185performance.com, tell him Stepho sent you), Kings Springs (
www.kingsprings.com.au) and quite a few other Australian companies (most will ship overseas).
Engine swaps. See my FAQ.

It was written for the 70-77 Celica but the engine section applies reasonably well to the 81-85.
Easiest upgrade is a 22R with 20R head (raises the compression ratio, which raises power).
