Lost Keys

I have a 1996 Celica 2.0GT and have lost my keys! (Think the ex has nicked them)
Have been told that without a master key, I need to replace the engine management unit.
Anyone know a way around this? Will be a nightmare to recover the car to the dealer as it's parked up in my back yard!

Just call the dealer and give them the VIN.
They can reorder one for you.

i think he is also worried about theft because the ex "nicked" them. I think to get the key u need to have the user manual with you..take it (if its the Original one with you got with the car) to the dealer..a number will be in there. otherwise you will have to take out your passaenger side door handle/key unit for the dealer to make a key for you.

Have contacted the nearest Toyota dealer. They have told me that the chip in the master key is coded to the EMU, and that it's this key that any replacement is coded to. Without the master, they reckon I need a new unit with a new master key.

I picked up a 91 tercel that came with no keys.
Is it easy to get a replacement key for this old car or just easier to change all the locks & switch?
Locking gas door lock has 8731 on it. Cars vin is jt2el43a8m0059238.

96 Celica doesnt have an immobilizer key. Get your VIN to any dealer and they should be able to get a key code. Otherwise it is stamped on the right side door lock cylinder.
