Help with 00 GTS

I recently purchased a 200 GTS. The local TOY dealership told me that there are pins in the engine which are made to shear off about once per year, that the valve cover had to be removed to change these, and that it would cost about $300 to repair/update. What are they talking about?

lift bolts yo! if you redline the car a lot, you're gonna need to replace those more than once a year! its when vvti kicks in! if you dont replace them regularly, then its bye bye engine! i think if you use the search option on here there is a ton of information on it, good luck

the L is lift, variable valve timing with lift. the rest is as he said..but eevry year is a stretch, had mine for three years and no issues, but I didnt red line all the time.
