Production Numbers

I have been searching and can not seem to find what I'm looking for. Does anyone know how I can tell how many 1995 Celica GT Convertibles were produced?

I know they were shipped to the US as partially assembled coupes to a California company and made into convertibles. There must be some way to determine how many were sold, I just can't find it. I was told that these were somewhat rare that year. I think my definition of rare is probably a little different than others' but I am a bit curious.

Thanks,
Dave

If they are converted coupes then it may be real hard to get true numbers.
The early models were custom made from coupes but I thought somewhere around 1985 they were actually made that way at the Toyota factory in Japan.
They were certainly offered to the Japanese public with K in the build code instead of the usual C or S for coupe.

The closest I know of for production numbers is at
http://jnc.farpost.com/data/framno/longindex.html
But that will only help you if the convertible has a different model number than the coupe.

You can try asking at a Toyota dealer parts desk.
They have CD's that tell them the body serial number for each model by month.

Thanks for the link. I will dig a little deeper and see what I can find. I have asked the same question on this and other forums with no responses so it would seem that no one really knows the answer.

The original owner mentioned that there were only a few in New England. I should have asked him how he knew that.

I appreciate the response.

I wouldn't say "a few".
It's not dime a dozen but I have seen them.
I saw a Bright Iris Pearl convertible once
Others are Super Red, Super White, Black, and Silver.
In Boston area alone, I've seen may be 10 of them.

I think he may have been referring to 1995's specifically. I know it isn't a super rare collectable or anything. I am just curious to know how many there are and thought it would be easy to determine.
