GTS Hot No Start

We have an 86 GTS that will not fire when hot, there is however spark, after it cools down for half an hour or so it restarts no problem, Art

This is a common problem for the GT-S models and other models which mounts the starter underneath the exhaust manifold. One fix however is to splice the solenoid wire on starter with a 12V automotive relay with a 10 or 12 gauge wire to the battery this will give the starter the extra juice it needs to crankover much more reliably. Or you can do what I am planning to do which is to pick up a starter from a later model celica or camry and mount it on the other side of your transmission casing. This will free up space for a turbo as well.
