94' ALternator upgrade....

OK, this could get wordy but please bare with me.
I am a car audio enthusiest and need some extra power. I have done the Big 3 conversion, seen here but using 4 gauge....
http://forum.sounddomain.com/forum/u...=5;t=007801;p=

Now I have ordered a 160 amp rebuild from a place and the service has been great. BUT none of them seem to be working corectly. He has nbow sent me three the third of which had a different regulator in it.
Now what my and the builders concern is is the possibility that the electrical system is left overs from 93'! My production date is 04/94. BUT the reason I think that this car could be a MIX is the first time I replaced the brakes it needed shoes for a 95' Celica!

One, has anyone had experience with this type of problem? Two are the regulators from the 93' alternaotors different OR possibly have a different pin configuration from the 94' on up? Three are their any rebuild schematics or tutorials that can help me figure this out?

I am going to take the back plate off of my stock alt to see exactly what regulator it is using and would appreciate any tutorials that can possibly help.
Thanks in advance....

your production date may be 04/94 but your car is the 95 model. 07 models are going on sale very soon. I'm pretty sure they won't be made in the 2007 selling them in 2006.

Don't fry yourself.

No need, one model has a round plug, the other has an oval plug. They use the same voltage to the same letter coded terminals. If you got the alternator from Extreme Alternator on ebay there's a few other threads here of people having problems with their units. I think there was a highlander with an alternator rated at 130amps that should walk the dog over the 160's from idle to max rpm.

No sir it is AceAlternator.Their service has been awesome. I mean the guy has sent me 3 different ones to try and thats with out me sending them back first! I have 3 Alts sitting here I need to ship back... LOL. But he has overnited me the last 2 and so far has spent $100 on shipping to try to figure this out! So I have nothing bad to say about them at all! He is freaking out because we just can't figure it out.
It's strange becaue it seems as if something is not receiving the right comands or something. I had the first one bench tested and it all came out fine! But, just isn't working in the car.
As you stated it is an oval plug on my stock alt. I am wondering if it could possibly be from a 93' year electrical system! If so then the regulator is probably different. So far my understanding is that for the 94-96 and 98-99 model years the regulators (3 I believe and have tried 2 different ones now) are the same. The 93' and the 97' years are different. Atleast from what I have been told so far.
Did the 93' model year have an oval 3 pin connector?
How hard is it to remove the back plate of the alt to find out?
