Aloha...

Hi guys, got a ?

I have a 96 Celica GT with the auto tranny. There is coolant leaking from where the tranny and engine mate up. Is there a freeze plug on the back of the block?

Does anyone have any pics of the 5SFE block without the flexplate installed?

I pulled the inpection plate/stiffener today and seen that the fluid is definitely leaking from the back of the block.

yea there is one on the back of the engine. its about 3-4 inches above the crank. the only way that would go is from excessive pressure due to freezing OR compression is getting into the water jackets (head gasket or a crack in the cylender walls or in the head) the chances of it rusting out are very slim. when you see it it will still look new.

Thanks alot. I think it has a head gasket problem. I'm gonna get the guy to do a compression test while he has it. I can do the head gasket myself, just dont have the tools to get the tranny off.
