A 45mpg celica??? Will you guys please shut this guy up..

Was checking out ebay today and came across this

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...3ARTQ%3AUS%3A1

A 45mpg celica??? Now c'mon... I owned a brand new 1990 celica and was lucky if I got 33mpg... I emailed this guy and he told me that I am crazy and this his car got 48mpg before.... I know I shouldnt be wasting my time on such a fool but someone else needs to send this guy the message that he's falsely advertising his "hybrid" car... I even called him and he wouldnt budge on the mpg... Call me crazy but some people just dont seem to get it...Thanks guys!

Just save your breath and leave him be, no point wasting your time on asses like that guy. Ebay is all about "buyers beware" anyway.

Besides, those hubcaps look ghey.

You probably don't know that chrome wheel covers help increase about 10 mpg.
Then he might have "Tornado fuel saver" thats help increase another 10 mpg.
The best part is if the "CVC joint" didn't break, he will probably gain another 10 mpg.

I get 38 mpg. I drive 65mph..... I am in neutral any chance I get. And only on shell gasoline I get that mileage. Highway 70% of the time.

^With 100% highway, it'll be close to 45mpg.

the drivers weight is also a factor

if i was buying a car at a auction i wouldnt consider anything the seller says, personally i think its retarded the ammount people will pay for a ebay car, i wouldnt shell out more than 500$ for that car no matter how nice it looked because i'd be considering the fact that its probably got a blown head gasket, engine knock, slipping trans or somthing else serious because people usually only auction cars that look better than they run. consider the price of a new engine or trans installed before bidding.

I'd auction mine if it had a decent paint job lol, i'd take 400$ for mine right about now, trans works perfect but its burning oil.

45mpg? how the hell? I get 30-35 from mine, a 5th gen GT liftback, depending on conditions, and my dad the fuel miser got 37 mpg out of it once (by shifting very short). further remember that th 5S-FE equipped Celicas of this time had EPA numbers of 22/29 so I highly doubt this guy got that much.
Also, I highly doubt the chrome wheel covers increase fuel mileage, they look like they add air resistance and drag. Technically this means that the GT liftback, with a cD of 0.31 would be most likely to get better, but he has a coupe, which has a 0.32 (not much difference, but still).

I get the best mileage from Shell gas, too. Don't know what that's all about, but it's cool since there's one down the street from me. I get about 30mpg with 50/50 highway and city but it jumps to about 40+ on highway only trips.
