USA oil leak

I have a 1992 celica gt 2.2. i have got this oil leak that i cannot find. After endless days of looking i decided to take it to the dealer. the service guy had it for 2 day and decided it was coming from the camshaft oil seal. i asked how much it would cost to repair seal, it came to $800 plus dollars. OUCH!!! i have the manuals to do the job so i got it home and jumped right in with both feet. well after geting the right front tire, alternator, crusie control motor mount p/s, timing belt cover, timing belt and finaly the camshaft gear. and before my eyes i saw the camshaft oil seal, and believe it or not there was not a single drop of oil leaking. i was MADDDD!!!! all that work and did not solve my oil leak. the valve cover gasket, oil pain and now the timing cover all have new gaskets. where else could the leak be coming from ,when we first start it up it puff a little blue smoke.if that information helps. any way thanks for taking the time to read this. all comments are welcome. thanks rrthomas

Well I have a 91 GT with the 5sfe and I have come to the conclusion that mine is the oil pump itself leaking. I will eventually fix the leak or do a 3sfte swap when I have the time but until then I clean the driveway once a month and add oil as needed.

oil leaks can be a pain to find sometimes since window blows under your engine splashing it everywhere so ill usually buy serveral cans of non foaming engine bright, clean the engine everywhere possible then let the car sit a hour or so then check all mating surfaces for fresh brown oil with my fingers or napkins.

theres actually a type of UV dye you can buy from most major auto parts stores, just mix it with oil and use the UV light that comes with it. just dont drive around after adding it since wind blows oil anywhere and everywhere so you wont be able to tell anything

The smoke from startup is probably valve seals. Which won't leak on the outside.
Where is the oil on the engine?
One usual place that most seem to overlook is the rear of the head gasket. The oil from the head drains back here, and the gasket tends to leak after a while, soaking the rear of the block in oil.

Cleaning the entire engine, and then running it for a bit is an excellent suggestion.
