USA '86 gt-s / maf Q?

So i picked up a 1986 Celica gt-s and had to tow it to the dealer ship because i bought it not running. So i had them look at it and they said that the maf/intake air meter is bad.Dealership wants $213.95...kind of a small fortune expecially since i only paid $500.00 for the whole car.Is there any upgraded air flow meter/aftermarket maf or am i stuck with buying one from the dealership?-Thanks

Go get one from the salvage yard. When my Transmission control module went out, a shop quoted me at $700+ for it. I towed it back home, and the next day I went to the junkyard and got one for $35 and did it myself. It works fine now. Nice buy, I like those engines.

You're not gonna beleive this!

Well..i got mine fixed and didnt spend a dime..Mine was cranking till the cows would come home but never caught on, One of those little metal straight pin things that connect into the maf box were touching each other and one i separated them it started right up. It boggled my mind how a tiny lil wire could mess up the entire car.I feel alot better about my buy now.It runs awesome and is gonna be getting some serious go-fast parts soon!
