ELCelica,
In Australia the RWD Celica was sold up to early 1986.
So he is quite justified in saying he has a 1986 Celica with a 22R-E.
That would make it one of the last RA65's.

Easiest is to buy the manual.
Choices are:
- Toyota factory manaul bought from a dealer (America only) or Ebay,
- Haynes Celica RWD manual
- Chilton manual

All have a full wiring diagram in the back and give plenty of other useful info.

ha, yeah i mean 85, sorry im not really in the know about jap cars, ive been a aussy car guy most of my life, ive only recently gotten into jap 4's. thank for looking for me, i cant seem to find any info on them. i have contacts in toyota, they where happy to give me a complete copy on the efi system and ecu (lucky me) but thats all they had. The twist with what im doing is im actually putting the engine into a 74 mazda 808. Its actually going guite well, the block and 5 speed fit in snug. Im in the process of modifing the engine and gearbox mounts to suit. next is rx7 front struts, brakes and a disk conversion on the rear.

Gasp! Sacrilege!
Somebody geta stake and a match - I'll bring the wood.
Not exactly a common conversion.
Why not the good old rotary conversion?
A rotary from any series RX-7 will beat a 22R-E.

I'll dig through my manuals.
I'm sure I've got some wiring diagrams for the 85 Celica (engine, ECU and gauges included).

If you are bolting discs onto a standard rear axle housing, beware that the standrad bearing are not up to it.
Disc brake rear ends usually have bearings at about 45mm wide instead of 15-20mm found in drum brake axle housings.
Disc brakes cause lots of flexing at the bearings.
Besides, rear discs are overrated.

yeah im not a rotor fan. I got the engine for free and ive never done a conversion before so i just thort, why not. i have a mate who is an auto engineer, hes making me addapters and supplying me with upgraded bearings. in order to comply with australian regulations the cars bakes need to be up graded. my work mate has friends at hot4's magizine who are already interested in the car because the conversion is basicly never done.
