Also to set the timing you have to jump two terminals on the check plug correct? Is this one of the two plugs located on top of the distributor? Which two plugs must you jump?

Perhaps just bit the bullet and pay for a proper tune-up at a trusted mech (or buy the proper repair/service manual for said vehicle). That way, you have someone else to batch at (beats batching at ones-self

). I'm sure this info is out there somewhere....or maybe you could locate a repair manual..... just winging it is likely going to be the long road, me thinkst. Get help, one way or another (manual or mechanic ....)
