2003 Celica Radio Pin Outs

My son and I are helping my niece install a new radio in her '03 Celica. We are looking for the pin outs from the radio and amp. We tried splicing into the wires using the standard colors (red=power, black=ground) but had no luck.

Can anyone help us out?

Try the website below. It has the Toyota harness colors.

Thank you!

The latest document this website has for a Celica is 1987 and newer. Is it safe to assume that Toyota has used the same harness for 16 years?

Toyota did not use standard colors for their radio wiring.

Do you have the 2-plug, 10 and 6 pin setup? This was used at least through 2001 cars. It is still advertised as the main harness type setup.

There is also a single 15 pin plug harness. I don't have the pinouts for this, but it should be on the web. This harness is also offered at web sites.

If your harness has the 2-plug system with 1 plug having 10 pins, the other 6. I would think you are OK. Just to make sure, you use a volt/ohm meter (under $10 at some stores) and check for the hot power wires, speaker wires (should be 4-16 ohms), etc. See if they match the call outs on the diagram. Or try a light bulb on the hot wires. If they are gray and blue w/yellow strip, you should be OK.

Between the two setups (year ranges) listed at the installdr site, it appears only the plug style was changed. Not the wire colors and functions.
