Ok, I bought a '92 Celica GT-S Hatch/Liftback a couple months ago. It's got 110,000 miles on it, runs great, power everything.
Now, I have two seperate curiosities.
For one, it smokes when I start it. If you run the revs up a couple times after starting it, then it will smoke no more until you run it again. I think this is somewhat normal on an older car, but I figured I'd ask some of you that are more familiar with the Celicas. My dad has a '94 Geo Prism that had a toyota engine in it, and it smokes whenever you get heavy on the gas, and eats oil like crazy.
The oil level in my Celica doesn't seem to be falling, so is it possible that this startup smoke is just from a tiny leak, or is it just inevitable, and should I not worry about it?
On to #2- It has the system 10, and I didn't know when I bought it, but the last owner must have had subs in it, as there is wiring under the carpet behind the rear seats. When I play the radio, the sound is good, but when I play CDs I can't even turn the volume up loud enough to hear it over wind and exhaust noise at 60mph, and there is absolutely no bass. Are there some wires I can reattach that maybe he missed if he was messing around with the radio? Here's a pic, and you can see just below the ignition red, white, and blueish-green cut wires protruding. Do these have something to do with it?
Oh, and one more I guess- It has a very large center console, and even though the rest of the interior is mint, the top of the cover is worn quite badly from the previous owner's elbow, I assume. Anybody know where I can get another and/or how much it would cost?
Thanks guys!
