I can see many point behind his ocnversion.
1. it's different.
Same reason I put up with my old '77 Celica that gets dragged off by the latest cookie cutter Subaru's.
2. maybe he just want some practice before doing a really serious conversion.
3. it's a daily driver to work - so range and speed aren't issues.
4. electricity is cheap forever, $6500 is worth about 2-4 years of petrol depending on your mileage and petrol prices are getting higher.
5. no pollution - some people really do care and show it with their wallet.
Personally, I wouldn't have done it but I have often thought about it (some electric cars do really good in sprint races around cones).
He should get credit for going out and giving it a go.
