Question 90 celica st worth $250 w/o engine?

ok.
i was out riding around one day and i ran into a 90 celica st (red) that from what the owner said has been sitting for 4 years he gave me the story bout his divorce and the car and such *yawn* but when we started the car it had a rattle in the engine but not a knock from the bottom end....???? is this car worth 250 dollars?
i has little things wrong but over all in VERY clean and nice shape.... btw its the 1.6L engine with auto trans
Comments Anyone
P.S. could the rattle be a valve or such?
need feed back pls

Only if body in great condition. You can get another 4A-FE or 7A-FE and drop it in. $1000 and you got a running car.

$250 for a 5th gen in good shape all around minus the engine...sounds like a good candidate for a 3sgte swap

^Its a ST with 4A-FE not GT/GTS with 5S-FE. Could be done but more work.

oops my bad, but still, what'd all be different, other than customizing some mounting brackets...given you'd wanna change the tranny anyway (please remember piney I'm a 1st gen guy, so if I sound dumb, it's cuz I am! lol)

ST got smaller brake and rear drum. Also the hubs are 4 bolts. It also lack sway bar and sturt bar. Only thing itgot is weight less. A 4A-GZE would be a nice swap.
