ok so im a 17 year old and im tryin to buy a celica i like the 90's models and 2000 and up bodystyle but other than that i dont kno much about celicas its kinda hard to ask any people around here about tuning them because just about everyone rolls a civic or accord or some type of acura so i wanted to ask your alls help as to what 90's celicas would be best and whats the best mods to put on it for not a ton of money
The 90's models, You can......
1.) Put on a Cold Air intake.
2.) A nice flowmaster exhaust system.
3) There is a lot of choices of body kits, if you feel like ricing.
4.) Engine swaps are fairly pricy but possible with the 90's celicas.
This is what I did-
1.) Ram air intake.
2.) Cherry bomb muffler.
3.) Lots o' chrome.
4.) Performance Tune-up.
5.) DIY Hyper grounds.
6.) Suspension upgrades.
you're gonna have a hard time finding one in this area, my grandfather sold me his 1993. aiming for a GT or GT-S (90-93 only) liftback should be good. mod-wise, engine swaps, suspension upgrades, and a few performance parts are available, but not from the big name companies (at least not prior to 1993)
thanks for the help so far...uh mainly im just lookin to put an exhaust, cold air intake, maybe some different injectors?? (would that help? can they be found?) and maybe a performance chip, and some minor suspension mods like the eibach springs and wheels...nothin to extreme....anyone know what problems are common with these cars to look for when buying? and what would be reasonable pricing? ive seen 91's go for around 3000 before
If you're going to try to make it fast, do something that changes the static or dynamic compression, not much of a gain will be noticed from running an intake and an exaust.
well, I got my 1993 for 3k, but i had a connection, and went your grandfather is getting a fully loaded Solara SLE V6, he'll sell you his old Celica for that much. other than than, most I've seen is around 5k for a 1992-93 GT.
let's see, problems. the radio tends to have problems a lot, a few have had power steering issues, but it's a reliable car, being a Toyota
radio i wouldnt mind ill just take the eclipse head unit outta my truck and put it in...but how do i change the dynamic or static compression??? and anything will be an improvement over what im used to now....i have a 94 4.0 V6 ford ranger...and its a dog
also some1 said somethin about swapping motors...how would that be done and what motors from what cars...and whoever explains this one please give me hp and tq numbers because when it comes to japanese motors i have no idea

I got a 1992 GT-S for $3,800, nearly mint condition. I'm 17 too, btw.
Just try to avoid dealerships. I looked at a few before I found the one I bought... one was a 91 ST with rust and the driver's door wouldn't open. It also had a severe oil leak, and they wanted 2,000. I offered 750 and they laughed at me.
Private is the way to go, in my opinion. And run a carfax too, it's worth the cost.
