Which model Celica do you have?
Celicas were made from 1970 up to a couple of years ago.

Ok this is gonna be long to include all
the first three generations were RWD, and used an R series engine.
1971: 8R (1.9L)
1972-74: 18R (2L)
1975-81: 20R (2.2L)
1982-85: 22R or 22R-E(2.4L)

After that, they went FWD
1986-1989: 2S-E, 3S-FE, 3S-GE (all 2L)
1990-1993: 4A-FE (1.6L), 5S-FE (2.2L)
1994-1999: 7A-FE (1.8L), 5S-FE
2000-2005: 1ZZ-FED, 2ZZ-GE (both 1.8L)

All AWD Celicas used the 3S-GTE turbo 2L unit

for engine swaps in Celicas, people typically want the 3S-GTE or a more advanced 3S-GE
usually people attempting a 3S-GTE swap also do an AWD conversion.
while possible due to its compact nature, an A-series engine from an MR2 is not a good bet from what I understand.
Other suggestions for swaps to FWD Celicas have included the Camry's 1MZ-FE V6, however, I have never heard of anyone actually trying this.

RWD Celicas have more flexibility in engines, but it is even harder to find one of these cars. however, if interested, search "random idea" as a title for a post and you'll find some stuff out. also, FWD Celicas cannot accept a RWD engine.

just for an engine, you could be looking at 1 grand, depending on what you what and the condition it is in. search ebay for some ideas.

a 1994 celica... so if i wanted to do a 3S-GTE swap would i have to make it AWD or could i just leave it FWD? and yea i think ive seen a celica with a camry V6 for sale before on ebay....and i kno ive seen an MR2 with a V6 from a camry which doesnt make sense to me because MR2's are RWD and camrys are FWD, but anyways that has nothin to do with what im talking about... but anyways about how much could i expect to pay for a 3S-GTE or a 3S-GE and does it just mount right up to the same mounts as the stock engine

I really can't tell you as far as whether an AWD conversion is necessary or not, but I wen't looking, and found them to range from just under a grand to upwards of 2 grand (the very few I found)
